Since 2005, we have been collaborated in the Elmina area – in the south of the country – with several projects focused on children and women in the area.
- Pediatrician expedition, nurse and laboratory technician. Hospital de WaleWale. Year 2006
- Hospital de WaleWale. Microscope. Year 2006
- Dentists expedition. Hospital de Asikuma. August 2008
- Pediatric Expedition. Hospital de Asikuma. November 2009
The project was developed from 2007 to 2013 with the name “No to poverty, Yes to working women”. Microcredits were granted to women who had presented a duly documented business project (small businesses or trades). This project eased their difficult social situation while enhancing their autonomy and economic independence.
The microcredits (approximately of 300 €) were granted with advantageous conditions, due to the low interest rate (CPI of the country) and to the possibility of repaying them in three years with the chance of extending the term. The microcredits were rotatory. This means that when a woman reimburses the total, another can be granted. A total of 70 microcredits were granted, 10 of them by rotation.
Regular tuition, school supplies and wardrobe costs for young girls are funded at the St. Mary’s Vocational Center. In the center, girls take cutting and tailoring courses and cooking classes in order to have a trade and avoid thus, to be forced into sexual exploitation networks or into other activities that are not adequate.
Construction and adaptation of a space for using it as a dining room in the center St. Anne Catholic School located in the town of Nkontrodo (Elmina). This will allow to receive 600 children per day, in turns of 150.
In addition, there has been contribution to the paving of 5 classrooms of Nkontrodo school as well as to the feeding of 600 students.
